Event Wrap: SANOG 42

APNIC supported and participated in SANOG 42, held in Islamabad Pakistan from 21 to 25 October 2024.

The event welcomed 160 delegates from across the region to participate in training and hear from speakers on topics including routing security, network automation, cybersecurity, regional cooperation and much more. View the program for more information.

APNIC activities:

  • APNIC hosted a booth, welcoming APNIC Members and conference attendees and answering their questions on IPv6, ROA creation, APNIC membership and the referral program, and upcoming events.
  • Jia Rong Low received a Guest of Honour recognition from Pakistan's Minister of State, IT & Telecom, Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Chairman of PTA, Major General Hafeezur Rahman during the opening ceremony.
  • Subha Shamarukh presented on 'Geolocation and Geofeed Implementation', discussing common geolocation issues and solutions, along with guidance on implementing geofeed.
  • Dave Phelan presented 'The Internet - by the numbers' where he explored IPv6, RPKI and security stats in the South Asia region as well as Pakistan.
  • Dave Phelan and APNIC Community Trainer, Muhammad Fahad Khan, conducted a four-day Network Automation workshop for 15 participants.
  • The APNIC Foundation hosted the Digital Leap South Asia Alumni Event, giving participants the opportunity to share insights, receive certificates, and connect with the APNIC and the APNIC Foundation teams along with other industry experts.
  • The APNIC Foundation sponsored seven of its participants from Afghanistan and Pakistan to attend SANOG 42 to build their knowledge and skills, participate in discussions and network with peers.
  • Jia Rong and Subha met with the IT Minister, PTA Chairman and other APNIC Members to strengthen relationships and discuss important issues relating to IPv6 adoption in Pakistan, training and collaboration opportunities, and participation in upcoming APNIC events.
