Tower Choir to perform at Nebraska music educators conference

The Northwest Missouri State University Tower Choir has again received an invitation to perform at the annual Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA) In-Service Workshop and Conference.

The Tower Choir will perform Nov. 21 at St. Paul's United Methodist in Lincoln. Additionally, the choir will present a preview of its NMEA program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts on the Northwest campus.

The invitation to NMEA is the Tower Choir's fourth since 2011. The choir also has accepted several invitations to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop and Conference, including a performance there last January.

"Historically, Northwest music ensembles have been populated by many Nebraska musicians," said Dr. Adam Zrust, a Northwest assistant professor of music who conducts the Tower Choir. "Our performance at NMEA in November is an opportunity to give back and share our artistry with those who have given us so much."

Hundreds of choral professionals, educators and students attend the two-day conference, and a performance at NMEA represents the highest statewide honor to which a school music ensemble can aspire. Tower Choir last performed at NMEA in 2017.

Formed in the 1940s by Ralph E. Hartzell, the Tower Choir is an award-winning choral ensemble that regularly performs concerts for high schools, colleges, universities, churches, institutions and organizations throughout the Midwest and beyond. The ensemble also presents peer-reviewed and invited concerts for learned societies, regional and state conventions, meetings, and symposia.
