On July 6, 2024, State Police members arrested David E. Benson, age 37, of Plattsburgh, NY for menacing 2nd, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 3:01 p.m., Troopers responded to Cornelia Street in the town of Plattsburgh for a report of domestic. An investigation determined Benson and the victim were involved in a verbal argument which turned physical when Benson grabbed the victim by the back of the shirt and pulled the victim to the ground. During the altercation, Benson was holding a crowbar making threatening gestures, and lastly, Benson placed his hand on the victim's throat.

Benson was arrested and transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
