DASNY President Rodriguez Joins Lehman College President Delgado on Campus Tour and Joint Projects
DASNY President and CEO Robert J. Rodriguez yesterday joined Lehman College President Dr. Fernando Delgado to tour the College campus, including numerous construction and improvements managed by DASNY that helped enhance students' experience.
Highlights of the tour included the Lehman College of Nursing, a significant project for the College that opened in February 2024; the Davis Building-Dept of Social Work, which is nearing completion; and the Science Building.
President Rodriguez said, "DASNY is proud to have partnered with CUNY for nearly 60 years on projects that enhance the educational opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Lehman College is a critically important Bronx institution, and DASNY is honored to have worked with them on this important project to train health care professionals at a time when New York needs their service, among many others."
"Our partnership with DASNY has significantly enhanced our campus, allowing us to create spaces that foster learning and innovation while enriching our students' educational experience," said Fernando Delgado, Lehman College President. "It's important when students come to our campus, they see buildings and spaces that are modern and new - giving them access to resources they'd only expect to see at private institutions."
The Lehman College Nursing Education, Research and Practice Center (NERPC) is a $95 million, 52,000-square-foot building that houses classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, faculty offices, and support spaces for both undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department of Nursing. A solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation system has been installed on the roof that generate a total of 43.2 kW of power for the building. New York State funded the project through the City University of New York (CUNY) Capital Improvement Program, with additional funding from the New York City Council and the Bronx Borough President's Office.
Other buildings visited include the Center for Teaching & Learning, located in the former pool of the Old Gym Building - a space that was the press pool when the United Nations held its historic first meetings on the Lehman campus - and the Music Building, both of which are under construction, as well as the Apex Plaza and Trellis, which are nearing completion.
