Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Sept. 26-27.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Sept. 26-27, in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center. Committee meetings are scheduled for both days. The quarterly business meeting is at 10 a.m., Sept. 27. For those who wish to attend the meetings but are unable to do so in person, a Zoom option is available with advanced registration. All meetings are open to the public.

Scheduled committee meetings include:

  • Academic and Student Affairs, 2-3:15 p.m., Sept. 26.
  • Finance and Administrative Affairs, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Sept. 26.
  • Governance, 8:30-9 a.m., Sept. 27.
  • University Advancement, 9:15-10 a.m., Sept. 27.

The agenda for the Academic and Student Affairs Committee includes presentations from the following administrators from their respective areas:

  • Michael Zieg, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
  • Michael May, vice president for enrollment management.
  • David Wilmes, chief student affairs officer.

The agenda for the Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee includes:

  • A presentation about the 2024-25 fiscal budget by Carrie Birckbichler, vice president for finance and administration.
  • Information items regarding the comprehensive planning process, contracts, purchases, financial reports, facilities and planning projects, human resources personnel items and a divisional report.

The agenda for the Governance Committee includes:

  • An informal evaluation of President Karen Riley.
  • A discussion about council mini retreats.
  • Certifying the order of succession.
  • A review and revision of the council's meeting legal advertisement.
  • Informational items regarding council committee assignments, calendar mentions and council bylaws.

The agenda for the University Advancement Committee includes presentations from the following administrators from their respective areas:

  • Troy Miller, vice president for university advancement.
  • Kelly Bailey, director of alumni engagement.
  • Dave Hollenbaugh, executive director of the SRU Foundation, Inc., with Mark Palmer, chair, SRU Foundation Board of Directors, providing the foundation's quarterly report.

At the quarterly business meeting, the council will hear the President's Report, receive reports from its standing committees, and review contracts, active projects for facilities and planning, human resources personnel items, budget/finance updates and divisional reports, a Board of Governors summary/Comprehensive Planning Process review.

There will be presentations from Evan Guiney, associate professor of biology, about the Keystone Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program, and Kristin Black, assistant director for student transitions, about the Jump Start program.

Scheduled action items include:

  • Vote to move the Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering program to the Chancellor's Office for final approval.
  • Vote on a naming resolution for the Holder Construction Classroom in the Strain Safety Building.
  • Vote to certify the order of succession.
  • Vote on the 2024-25 fiscal year budget.
