AFL CIO Condemns Union Busting Station Casinos’ Unfounded Legal Challenge to NLRB

October 30, 2024

AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler released the following statement in response to Station Casinos filing an unfounded constitutional challenge to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) rather than reckon with its own violations of federal labor law:

The NLRB's legal authority has long protected workers from corporate assaults on our right to organize, and that is exactly why Red Rock Resorts and Station Casinos are seeking to undermine the federal agency tasked with protecting workers' freedom to join unions. Members of UNITE HERE affiliates Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and

Bartenders Union Local 165 have endured years of union-busting by Station, as documented by the NLRB's 81-page decisionagainst the employer, from threatening to cut new benefits for workers to refusing to negotiate with non-gaming employees. We're seeing nothing more than the old corporate playbook at work here: fabricate grievances and undermine the law rather than reckon with clear violations of their workers' fundamental rights.

The only solution to end these baseless attacks against workers is to reform federal labor law. The AFL-CIO is proud to stand with the Culinary Union and Bartenders as we fight for justice and accountability for workers in Nevada, and we will always fight back against greedy corporations and their union-busting CEOs so that working people across the country get a better deal.
