The Washington County Sheriff's Office will participate in a special enforcement effort to increase visibility and reduce impaired driving this Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.
Many motorists will hit the roads eager to spend time with family and friends, thus making it one of the busiest travel times of the year, and unfortunately more people on the roadways means the potential for more vehicle crashes. Research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce impaired driving fatalities.
Sobriety checkpoints play a key part in raising awareness about the problem. Sheriff's Deputies along with other local law enforcement agencies will be doing additional enforcement efforts
We know friends and families will be especially excited to gather at the Thanksgiving table this year. We all need to do our part to keep roadways safe so that families and friends can gather and enjoy time together.
Intoxicated driving, by alcohol or drug is deadly and illegal, we ask that no one should ever take that risk. The special Thanksgiving High Visibility Engagement Campaign runs from November 27th - December 1st
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and holiday weekend!
