ACCGov Seeks Public Input on Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan through Nov. 24

The Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking public input through November 24 on roadway safety and accessibility concerns for the Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan.

Several pop-up events are planned for the fall where staff will be available to share information about the project and receive feedback from residents. Pop-ups include:

  • Friday, October 25 - Clarke County Sheriff's Office Fall Festival from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Sheriff Training Center Lawn (2900 County Farm Road)
  • Saturday, November 2 - AthHalf Expo from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Classic Center Pavilion (440 Foundry Street)

In addition to the pop-up events, an online survey is available at www.accgov.com/safestreets and will be open through Sunday, November 24.

Athens-Clarke County received a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to help improve roadway safety for all users, including driving, walking, biking, and transit. The Safety Action Plan (SAP) is aimed at reducing injuries and fatalities resulting from roadway crashes by developing recommendations and strategies to increase roadway safety for all modes of transportation.

Initial public engagement is being conducted in the fall to hear concerns and inform potential safety improvements that will be built into the plan. Additional outreach and public input opportunities will take place through December 2025.

For more information on the SS4A Program and Safety Action Plan, call the Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works Department at 706-613-3440 or email [email protected].
