Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health Williamson to visit Carson City mine to discuss federal investments’ benefits to mine workers, economy

WASHINGTON - Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health Chris Williamson will visit Granite Construction's Brunswick Canyon mine in Carson City, Nevada, Oct. 21 to join union miners and company officials to discuss how federal investments and policies are improving the lives of the nation's miners.

Assistant Secretary Williamson will meet mine workers represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers and Granite Construction representatives and discuss how federal support for the Arlington Avenue Bridge Replacement Project in Reno, Nevada is strengthening the regional economy and creating safe, healthy jobs that ensure all miners return home safe and healthy to their families and communities.

For over 50 years, the Brunswick Canyon mine has produced aggregates for construction and infrastructure projects. One of the nation's largest diversified construction providers to the transportation, water infrastructure and mineral exploration industries, Granite Construction acquired the mine in 2023.
