Training future leaders in maritime transport policy

As part of IMO's ongoing work to train future maritime and legal experts, students from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) in Malta have received training on maritime transport policy making during a seminar (28-30 November).

The seminar highlighted the importance of good governance practices in policy making with a focus on economic, environmental, safety and human factors, as well as open dialogue and active stakeholder engagement. Students had the opportunity to take part in a practical group exercise where they further familiarized themselves with the National Maritime Transport Policyconcept by developing key aspects of a maritime transport policy for a fictitious state.

The training seminar was delivered in partnership with the World Maritime University (WMU) in a collaborative effort between IMO's two Global Maritime Training Institutions, WMU and IMLI, under IMO's Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP).
