September 2024 Stakeholder Update

April 2024 Stakeholder Update

We've been busy at Dimensional Energy, and we have several exciting updates to share with you!

We recently kicked off our Series B fundraise. If you'd like more information, please let us know at [email protected].

Technology

On the technology front, Dimensional Energy was granted a patent for our Fischer-Tropsch (FT) catalyst on July 23. This high-alpha catalyst is optimized for liquids and waxes, enabling choice and control of products, and it produces very little methane, supporting low carbon intensity and process efficiency. Our FT catalyst is well suited for both biofuel and e-fuel pathways and high-quality wax ingredients for a range of products.

Our R&D department has also been busy perfecting our formulation for the Reverse-Water-Gas-Shift (RWGS) active catalyst and support. This world-leading syngas catalyst is showing strong thermodynamic-equilibrium conversion, insignificant methanation, no observable coking, and sulfur-poisoning resistance.

If you are interested in learning more about our catalysts, we'd love to talk with you! Let us know at [email protected].

These achievements are creating exciting value and opportunities as we continue developing our business. But the work doesn't stop there!

Projects

1BPD Pilot Project is Underway

Following a year of engineering, procurement, construction and integration with our carbon capture partner Svante and carbon provider Lafarge, commissioning is now underway for our 1BPD demonstration at the Lafarge Canada cement plant in Richmond, British Columbia!

Slated to be in full operation by the end of the year, this demonstration is a 10x scale up from our Tucson Technology Center and will integrate with a point source emitter to convert CO2 into drop-in fuels and high-value, low-carbon paraffinic wax products. Integrating with existing infrastructure saves on the balance of plant costs and enables us to address contamination risks associated with point source CO2 feedstocks, increasing our technical readiness level for future, larger projects.

This pilot also demonstrates the value of carbon utilization to reduce emissions from heavy industries such as cement. It is not common for industrial sites to have subsurface sequestration access making utilization a critical path for decarbonization.

Upgrading CO2 to useful everyday products is challenging, both thermodynamically and economically. Every aspect of the project that can be optimized helps drive down the cost of e-fuels and is another step toward full-scale adoption and deployment of renewable fuels. This new demonstration is another very exciting milestone for Dimensional Energy and a huge step in the energy transition!

Seneca-DE Project Progressing

Project implementation continues for the Seneca-Dimensional Energy project in Niagara Falls, NY. In late July, the New York Power Authority awarded us 10 MW of low-cost Niagara hydroelectric power and 16 MW of high load factor power, recognizing the job creation and economic development this joint project will bring to the region.

Future Projects

Dimensional Energy Engineering is busy with feasibility studies for clients globally. If you are a developer looking for a platform technology, reach out to us to learn more about our services to bring your project to fruition with our pre-vetted geographies, feedstock agreements, and offtake customers.

Hot off the Press!

CEO Jason Salfi sat down with the Robb Report in May to talk about the past, present, and future of the SAF industry. Jason discussed the economic potential of the industry saying:

"It's a tremendous opportunity because it bridges the gap between those in oil and gas today and the exact talent pool we need for production, so it's not about switching out one form of infrastructure for another but about leveraging the trillions of dollars of intellectual and physical capital already existing to transition to a less carbon-emissive economy. We view this sector as a job-creating force." - Jason Salfi

In June, Dimensional Energy was featured in an article on ImpactAlpha discussing the essential role in the future of climate tech innovation of the Development Simple Agreement for Future Equity (D-SAFE) developed by our partners at Elemental Excelerator.

A D-SAFE is a twist on the traditional SAFE funding method to enable companies to convert equity into a loan after projects have started and are fully funded. Many climate tech startups face the challenge of scaling the gap to get commercial plants up and running. A D-SAFE helped Dimensional Energy secure 20x more project funding to finance our SAF plant and can do the same for other startups as we continue the push for climate tech investment.

Dimensional Energy on the Road

In May, Dimensional Energy attended the ARPA-E Innovation Summit in Dallas. Our team hosted a booth sharing the accomplishments of our engineers in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, working on 3D printing and its role in converting CO2 to sustainable chemicals and fuels. Dimensional Energy sponsored the transportation to and from the Climate Tech Cocktails event, which closed out the 3-day conference. A fabulous time filled with fun and networking was had by all!

Also in May, Dimensional Energy Global Safety Manager Jesse Farrar presented at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation Spring Startup Showcase to discuss our community impact, our journey as a tech startup, and offer advice for other local tech startups.

Late last month, we participated in the eFuels Summit in Houston, TX, which focused on the clean energy transition. Director of Process Technology, Robert Coker, represented Dimensional Energy on a panel discussing eFuels production, price, competitiveness and financing.

Also in August, 1BPD Project Manager and Site Engineer Adrienne Lee presented a case study at a XPRIZE Alumni Network Trailblazers session. Her presentation was on our XPRIZE work and how XPRIZE helped to propel the progress of Dimensional Energy in the years since.

Last week, our Houston team celebrated the first Houston Energy and Climate Week by joining the Climate Tech Cocktails event sponsored by Dimensional Energy investor New Climate Ventures. The highlight of the evening was connecting with other companies and, of course, the raffle, which included bars of our Dimensional Surf Wax.

Also last week, our CEO Jason spoke on a panel about the future of SAF at the 2024 Carbon Removal Capital Summit for hundreds of companies and investors focused on the carbon remove economy, hosted by XPRIZE and Santander CIB, while Partnerships and Policy Director Siobhan Foley connected with other companies and policymakers about the development and adoption of practical solutions to produce SAF and decarbonize the aviation sector in North America at the North American SAF Conference and Expo 2024.

If you'll be in the area during these events, we'd love to meet up! Please reach out to [email protected].

Looking Ahead

As we turn our attention from summer to fall, we should also be aware of a concerning milestone marked during the same week our patent was issued: July 21-23 eclipsed the record (set only last year) to be the hottest days ever recorded on Earth as tracked by European and U.S. agencies.

In addition, the second annual Indicators of Global Climate Change (IGCC) was published on June 4. This new initiative provides annual scientific updates to estimate human-induced global warming and the remaining global carbon budget to keep international commitments to limit global heating to 1.5°. It showed a big jump in the global surface temperature last year and attributed about 92% of that to human activity, with the other 8% from natural activity including El Niño. It is a helpful new resource for policy and business leaders working for progress on our global goals and reinforces the urgent need to reduce emissions from fossil fuels and industry as soon as possible.

Collectively, we have the technology, we have the knowledge, and we have the resources to transition our energy systems faster. As they will be saying at New York Climate Week, "It's Time," and were saying at Houston Climate Week, "We do hard things."

It's time to do hard things. Let's do them together! Thank you for your continued support.
