ATTENTION ALL DEVELOPERS, CONTRACTORS AND PROPERTY OWNERS:

The City of Fort Pierce is now under a Hurricane Watch.

Effective Monday, October 7th, 2024, in preparation of the tropical storm and/or hurricane force winds that Hurricane Milton will bring to our area, the City of Fort Pierce Building Department is suspending the scheduling of all inspections until further notice.

Existing inspections for Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 will be evaluated on a case by case basis for a determination if they can safely be performed. The Board of Examiners' of Contractors meeting has been cancelled.

All inspections for Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 and Thursday, October 10th, 2024 are cancelled. The Special Magistrate Hearing on October 10th, 2024, has been cancelled.

Effective immediately, all construction job sites should secure all equipment, materials, trash and debris. Sites that do not comply will be issued a Stop Work Order and consequently issued a Notice of Violation.

Commercial floodproofed properties that require temporary flood barriers must ensure they are installed.

The Building Department will be closed to the public on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 and Thursday, October 10th, 2024. Depending on the extent of damage, normal operations may or may not resume on Friday, October 11th, 2024. We will continue to monitor the projected conditions of the storm in our community and we will have an update as conditions change.
