A-State Nursing Students Accomplish 100% Passing Rate

JONESBORO - Nursing graduates at Arkansas State University have something extra to celebrate following the completion of their comprehensive nursing exam.

Students who received their bachelor's degrees in nursing in the accelerated and traditional programs passed their licensing exams with a 100% pass rate from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.

"We recently received news that the A-State Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program had a 100% pass rate. Having a 100% NCLEX-RN® pass rate is an exhilarating feeling," said Dr. Kathryn Flannigan, interim director of the School of Nursing.
Students who graduate from a pre-licensure nursing program, either earning an associate or bachelor's degree, are required to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam before they can enter the workforce as a registered nurse.

"This achievement represents the hard work that each student put forth during the program, the preparation, and successfully passing their licensure exam on the first attempt," Flannigan added.

She said during this same time, the exam structure underwent major changes in formatting and the style of the questions students would experience on the exam.
"This is reflective of the hard work that each faculty member has put forth preparing students throughout the program. Faculty tirelessly learned and implemented new test question styles into unit exams and finals to best prepare students," continued Flannigan.
"The ability to report a 100% pass rate for the BSN program is a great recruiting tool. Prospective students and their families are always interested to know the pass rate of a program.

Prospective students and families are able to trust and know that their nursing education is in the best hands and the faculty are invested in their success as a pre-licensure nursing student."
