Man dies following alleged Tweed Heads assault

A man has died following an alleged assault in the state's north this morning.

About 3:15am today (Sunday 24 November 2024), emergency services were called to William Street, Tweed Heads South, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended and found an unconscious man, believed to be aged in his 30s, laying on the ground outside a home.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man; however, he died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

As investigations continue police are urging anyone with information into the incident to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
