As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - 1700 block San Francisco Avenue - On September 20, 2024, at 11:51 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 1700 block of San Fransisco Ave. Responding officers located a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body. They provided first aid until relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel who transported the victim to a local hospital where he is in stable condition. Detectives responded to the scene. The suspect and motive are unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
  • No-Hit Shooting - 800 block Harding Street - On September 21, 2024, at 5:31 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 800 block of Harding Street. Upon arrival, officers located an un-injured male adult victim. Preliminary investigation reveals a male adult victim was standing outside his vehicle when an unknown male adult suspect drove past his residence in a white sedan and discharged a firearm in his direction. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. The suspect and motive are unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Assault with SWAT resources - 1700 block of Magnolia Avenue - On September 21, 2024, at 5:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1700 block of Magnolia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with an injury to the upper body. Officers provided first aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene. Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a male adult suspect were involved in an altercation when the suspect assaulted the victim and barricaded himself. Officers established a perimeter around the suspect's location, and SWAT resources were activated and responded to the scene. The incident is active and the investigation in on going.
