Maine Democratic Party Statement on Trump v. United States

Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake released the following statement reacting to the Supreme Court's ruling in Trump v. United States:

"On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump sent a violent mob to attack the United States capitol and attempted to subvert a free and fair election. In the first presidential debate, he failed to answer three times whether he would accept the will of the American people at the ballot box this November.

"Trump is a wannabe dictator who will do anything to hold onto power and avoid accountability, including putting himself above our Constitution, above Maine voters, and above democracy itself - and the Supreme Court just set a perilous precedent that will enable him to act as a "dictator on day one".

"Every day it is made more clear to Mainers that our democracy and our right to participate in free and fair elections are on the line this November and that the only way to hold Donald Trump accountable will be at the ballot box."
