Bailey Mullen '26 plans to be an FBI agent after college, but first she wants to investigate all the touristy things she can while studying abroad in London, England.

Mullen has had several run-ins with the FBI. It happens all the time when she's with family.

"Some of my family members are FBI agents so learning more about what they actually do made me more interested in that field. I hope to be a great FBI agent and make a change in the communities."

Right now, though, she's exploring how criminal justice supports communities abroad. Mullen has always dreamt of seeing the Eiffel Tower, so she chose a study abroad program with her desired field and proximity to Paris. The University of Roehampton was the perfect fit. The criminal justice studies major is studying law and order in the English capital.

"Since I'm taking a criminal justice class while abroad, I get to learn about England's different laws and a gain deeper understanding of how the country works. I decided my major going into college because I'm inspired to make the world a better place and to help people. I want to be a field agent and get into all the activity."

A healthy dose of courage is required for that line of work. It's something Mullen tapped into when traveling abroad for the first time.

"Right away I met a couple of friends. I'm not as nervous anymore because we're all in the same boat of being somewhere new. Once I had orientation, I got to know more people and the layout of the campus. Overall, meeting friends helped overcome the nerves."

Bailey has already hit a few of the major sites in the city including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye, and is awestruck by the timeless beauty of the city and the differences in culture.

"It's crazy seeing cars drive on the other side of the road, so that's definitely something I'll have to get used to."

Bailey is thankful for the chance to be abroad and to meet people from all around the world, and is grateful for the opportunity to immerse herself in another culture.

"I know a lot of people say studying abroad looks good on a resume, but there's more to it than that for me. Not everybody is able to spend a semester abroad, so I'm very thankful that my major allows me to have this great experience."
