A Message from ASPPH's President and CEO: ASPPH Remains Steadfast in Its Mission

November 7, 2024

As we embrace a new chapter following the US Presidential election, ASPPH remains steadfast in its mission to improve health and well-being for everyone, everywhere. Regardless of political shifts, we are guided by enduring principles of social justice, dedicated to advancing academic public health institutions and driven by a vision of vibrant, thriving, healthy communities empowered by competent and compassionate public health professionals.

This year exemplified our proactive stance on pivotal public health issues, including advocacy for gun violence prevention, fostering diversity and inclusion through our DEIJ initiatives, expanding our climate change engagements, and envisioning the transformation of education for public health. These milestones showcase our role as a force for unity and positive change in public health-a reminder that our work goes beyond political cycles to prioritize collective action and support meaningful, lasting progress.

Our commitment will continue to extend toward fostering a future-ready public health workforce. Through partnerships and collaborations, we will continue to enhance fellowships, advance student pathways, and reinforce global alliances, illustrating our drive to empower and equip the next generation of public health leaders to face future challenges with confidence. Trust in our mission fuels the resolve to advocate for impactful policies and strengthen academic-practice partnerships that bolster community well-being.

We recognize that changes in leadership bring both challenges and opportunities. Yet, through each shift, ASPPH stands prepared to meet these moments together with resilience and hope. Public health remains an unwavering pillar in addressing society's most pressing needs. To our members and allies, know this: ASPPH's commitment is unwavering, our advocacy steadfast, and our vision of a healthier, more equitable world unyielding. Together, let us approach these times with renewed purpose-for the communities we serve, the students we mentor, and the brighter future we are building.

With the election concluded and Donald J. Trump re-elected as President, we are ready to continue this journey. Join us on November 13, 2024, for the ASPPH Presents Webinar, What the US Presidential Election Outcome Means for Public Health, as we explore the impact of this election on our field.
