Sympathy to the Family and Friends of Dr. LaQuita Saunders, Emeritus Assistant Professor

JONESBORO - The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Dr. LaQuita Saunders of Jonesboro, who died Sept. 7.

After earning a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University, Saunders received a master's degree in history from A-State. She also earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.

Saunders started her career at A-State in 1996, serving 22 years as a faculty member in the Department of History. She served as director of the Pre-Law Center, which she was instrumental in getting started, and adviser to the A-State Pre-Law Club.

Survivors includeher husband, Jeffrey W. Crump, three sons, a daughter, two siblings, and two grandchildren. Her obituary may be found online.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12. That evening the clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library will be darkened in memorial tribute to Saunders for her service and contributions to higher education and Arkansas State University. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 13.
