Chinese naval sailing training ship makes technical stop in Malaysia

The Chinese naval sailing training ship Po Lang docks at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal in Penang, Malaysia.

PENANG, Malaysia, Oct. 24 -- The Chinese naval sailing training ship Po Lang, which is on the midshipmen ocean-going training and visit mission, arrived in Penang, Malaysia, on Wednesday morning, for a three-day technical stop.

At 10:00 a.m., the Chinese sailors aboard the sailing training ship Po Lang manned the rails while the ship steadily docked at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal in Penang.

More than 100 people, including representatives of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and Royal Malaysia Police, the Chinese Consul General in Penang, the Deputy Military Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the staff of the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Malaysia, and representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded institutions, came to the dock to welcome the ship. After the welcoming ceremony, the welcoming crowd boarded the ship Po Lang for a visit.

During the stop, the Chinese mission commanders will have a courtesy meeting with the Assistant Chief of Staff of the RMN Western Fleet, and the Chinese sailors will conduct professional exchanges with their Malaysian counterparts. In addition, Po Lang will hold ship-open day activities.
