The Initial Press Release of Taiwan Aviation Master Activity Association’s JJ2258 Ultralight Crash-landed Occurrence After Takeoff at Pingtung Jaie Haour Airfield

On December 9, 2024, at 1055 Taipei time, a STORCH CL ultralight operated by the Taiwan Aviation Master Activity Association, carrying 1 operator and 1 occupant, experienced engine failure shortly after taking off from Runway 26 at the Pingtung Sai Jia Jaie Haour Ultralight Airfield (Jaie Haour Airfield) and crash-landed approximately 340 meters west of the Runway 08 threshold. The ultralight was destroyed, and both occupants were hospitalized for treatment.

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately dispatched investigators to Jaie Haour Airfield to collect data in accordance with procedures related to aviation occurrence investigations. The TTSB has classified this event as an aviation occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. An official investigation has been initiated, and the investigation team will continue to gather relevant evidence.
