Singleton to Join International Justice Mission’s Board of Directors

New appointment comes after 20 years of service with World Vision United States

Continuing her dedication to humanitarian work-including tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice-Joan Singleton, vice president of Administration and Finance, and chief financial officer, will join International Justice Mission's (IJM) board of directors. Previously, Singleton spent 20 years working with World Vision United States, including eight as director of the Board.

IJM's mission statement is to protect people in poverty from violence by rescuing victims, bringing criminals to justice, restoring survivors to safety and strength, and helping local law enforcement build a safe future that lasts. The organization partners with local authorities in 33 programs offices in 19 countries to combat trafficking and slavery, violence against women and children, and police abuse of power.

"I was delighted to be asked to serve on the board of International Justice Mission," Singleton said. "Given Arcadia's global emphasis and lived value of justice, board service with IJM seems well aligned with not only my personal interests, but also my work."

As is their work, IJM's board of directors is truly global and diverse. Singleton will join other leaders from companies like Amazon, Google, and Walmart, as well as institutions of higher education like Harvard University and Fuller Theological Seminary, and nonprofit organizations such as Freedom House. The board meets several times a year in Washington, D.C. and through Zoom.

Singleton's service on the board will be for a 10-year term. She will begin later this fall.
