American College of Physicians Celebrates Internal Medicine Day

Celebrating the essential role of internal medicine physicians

PHILADELPHIA October 23, 2024 - The American College of Physicians (ACP) will celebrate Internal Medicine Day on Monday, Oct. 28. This day honors internal medicine specialists and subspecialists and recognizes the crucial role of internal medicine physicians in comprehensive and equitable patient care and health outcomes.

From leading advancements in treatment and diagnosis to holding leadership positions in health care, business, and medical education, internal medicine physicians have shaped the field of medicine and health care. ACP established Internal Medicine Day to recognize internal medicine physicians and their critical role in clinical care and inspire continued appreciation for their expertise and knowledge that provide a vital foundation for patients, medical professionals, and the health care system every day.

"Internal medicine physicians are at the forefront of medicine, using their specialized knowledge to not only solve complex problems but also shape the future of health care as influential leaders and educators," said Isaac O. Opole, MBChB, PhD, MACP, president, ACP. "ACP celebrates their unwavering commitment to managing the complexities of diverse patient care while upholding clinical standards and advancing health equity."
