Giving Happy for the Future

Fort Belvoir, Va. -

DCAA is proudly participating in this year's annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC provides an annual opportunity for Federal employees to make a meaningful impact through charitable donations and volunteering in their local communities. Last year, DCAA employees contributed nearly 100 volunteer hours and pledged over $35,000. With approximately 4,000 employees, that averages out to just $8.75 per DCAA employee, showing how small contributions can make a big difference when we come together. This year, Kim Cook is the DCAA CFC Representative. While her role is to help coordinate, spread awareness, and answer questions about the campaign, she also shines a light on the personal impact the campaign has on others.

Kim has experience donating through the CFC as she makes donations to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) charities. Seeing the effects MS had on her mother inspired her to donate to organizations dedicated to MS research. She's seen the impact of the donations, "Since I have been contributing to the CFC, I have seen new tests and innovative options introduced to improve the lives of those with this disease." Even after her mother's passing, Kim continues donating and participating in the CFC. She shares, "Seeing everything my mom went through, although she has passed, I still donate so it can help others who have or may contract this disease in the future."

The CFC is the world's largest, most successful workplace charity campaign. Federal employees have raised $8.7 billion through CFC since 1961. Employees can participate by pledging money to or volunteering time at over 8,000 vetted charities and find a cause that resonates with them. The campaign challenges Federal employees to remember; participating charities need our support to help anyone who falls on hard times-for any reason. The campaign asks employees to consider, "What is your cause?"
