Amendments being proposed to the Code of Administrative Offences and the law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety debated

On September 27, the Standing Committee on Defense and Security convened a sitting. The Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan moderated it.

The Deputy Director of the RA National Security Service Andranik Simonyan presented for debate in the second reading the bill On Making Addenda and Amendments to the Code of the Republic of Armenia on Administrative Offences. It is designed to establish administrative responsibility for not fulfilling the requirements of the legislation in the sphere of protection of information containing state secrets.

According to the rapporteur, after the first reading the deputies presented in written proposals. "The term of the law entering into force was reviewed by the proposal of the Government. In particular, January 1, 2025 was set instead of the 10^th day following the publication day, providing a reasonable period of time to become acquainted with the mentioned legal regulations and to demonstrate legal behaviour," the representative of the Government underscored.

The Committee also debated in the second reading the package of the bills On Making Addenda and Amendment to the law On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety and to the law on RA Code on Administrative Offences.

According to the RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Davit Hambaryan, an addendum on the restriction of the speed was made from the first to the second reading. Taking into consideration the international experience, for electric personal mobility vehicles, the Government proposes to set a maximum speed of 25 km/h in Yerevan.

The legislative initiatives debated in the second reading were endorsed.
