Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach and the Office of Seventh District Councilmember Roberto Uranga proudly present the 70th Annual Daisy Lane Parade, taking place on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. The festive parade will be followed by a night of holiday entertainment on Sunday, Dec. 15.
"Year after year, the Daisy Lane Parade brings the community together to embrace the joys of community and the holiday season," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "Please join us as we celebrate the 70th year of this Long Beach tradition and the streets come alive with family-friendly festivities and live entertainment."
The holiday parade will begin at 5 p.m. on Daisy Avenue at West Burnett Street and travel south, down the eastside of Daisy Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway where it will make its way around the median and back up the westside of Daisy Avenue and conclude near West Hill Street and Maine Avenue around 7 p.m. Residents may view the complete parade route here.
The night of holiday entertainment will feature a spirited selection of celebratory performances and will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 on the Daisy Lane median at Daisy Avenue and 20th Street.
"As we celebrate the 70th year of the Daisy Lane Parade, we reflect on the many memories we have made and the joy this Long Beach staple has brought us," said Seventh District Councilmember Roberto Uranga. "I am honored to welcome the community yet again to make more memories as we travel down Daisy Lane and spread love, cheer and the holiday spirit."
Local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups interested in participating in the Daisy Lane Parade may submit an application by Dec. 2, 2024. For more information, contact the Seventh District Council Office at 562.570.7777 or [email protected].
The Daisy Lane Parade began in 1953 as the brainchild of Gertrude Whittle who originally worked with the Long Beach City Council and Council of Churches to help decorate the grass median on Daisy Avenue with a Christmas Village and nativity scene, an effort which then garnered participation from nearby residents and continued to grow over many years. Today, the Daisy Lane Parade is presented by the City and Seventh Council District and stewarded by the Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance and Maria Norvell, who is fondly known as the "Mother of Christmas Tree Lane" for being one of the original founders of the parade and for her continued role in this holiday celebration.
More information about this year's Daisy Lane Parade and night of entertainment will be available in the coming weeks on longbeach.gov/daisyparade.
