City of Tuscaloosa Honors Employees at Third Annual Excellence Awards

On Friday, September 20, the City of Tuscaloosa held the third annual Employee Excellence Awards at the Tuscaloosa River Market.

The Excellence Awards program was developed to recognize City of Tuscaloosa employees who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution and performance in their jobs.

"Our standard of excellence is to be the most accountable, innovative and effectively managed City in the United States," Mayor Walt Maddox said. "We could not hold ourselves to this standard without devoted City employees who go above and beyond in service to others. It is an honor to recognize employees who embody the standard of excellence."

Employees were honored in multiple categories including: 25, 30 and 35 years of service; Cheers for Peers; Excellence Awards; Mayor's Excellence Awards; and Emerging Leaders.

"The annual Employee Excellence Awards ceremony helps to recognize and honor our dedicated employees for the hard work they do every day," LaShonda Kemp, Chief Human Resources Officer said. "We look forward to continuing this annual event to recognize our deserving team members."

The City recognized nearly 70 employees during this event.
