Prominent Journalist Alumna Navbahor Imamova to Visit Ball State University; Free Presentation Oct. 29

Navbahor Imamova, MA '03, a distinguished journalist at Voice of America and alumna of Ball State University's College of Communication, Information, and Media, will return to campus on Oct. 28-29. As part of her visit, she will deliver a free public presentation at 2 p.m. on Oct. 29 in Room 225 of the Art and Journalism Building.

During her time on campus, Ms. Imamova will also visit several classes to share her experiences and insights, giving students the chance to engage with a leader in the field of journalism.

"The School of Journalism and Strategic Communication is very proud to welcome Navbahor Imamova back to Ball State University," said Dr. Johnny Sparks, director of the School of Journalism and Strategic Communication. "Before earning her mid-career master's in public administration at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, Ms. Imamova was a proud Cardinal who earned her a master's degree in journalism from Ball State.

"She's a superb and captivating storyteller who offers journalistic and diplomatic perspective on the critical world issues of the moment."

For more than two decades, Ms. Imamova has reported extensively on Central Asia and the United States across various media platforms, including television, radio, and online. Since 2018, she has made history as the first U.S.-based accredited correspondent reporting from Uzbekistan, providing unique insights into the region's evolving landscape.

"Ms. Imamova has experienced a fascinating career as a journalist," said Dr. Sparks. "Her story offers inspiration for aspiring journalists and all Ball State students who want to travel the world and make a global difference in lives."
