Last month, members from Hancock Lumber attended the Best Places to Work in ME awards ceremony that took place at the Augusta Civic Center. Over 133 companies from across the state attended who were recognized as a Best Places to Work across the small, medium, and large employer categories.
While Hancock Lumber learned we were named a Best Places to Work again in late summer, it is not until the event when ranking results are announced. President + CEO Paul Wainman, joined by Anna Russo, Laura Bower, John Muzzy, Mike Shane, and Nate Edwards, attended the ceremony. Hancock Lumber earned the position of #11 in the Large Employer Category (250 or more employees) this year, our highest ranking in the eleven consecutive years of being honored. For us, the ranking represents the process behind the survey which is what we're most proud of-our employee participation for taking the survey averages 95% which means we get feedback from nearly everyone on the team. Throughout the year managers use the data and feedback from their locations' results to work with their team and find ways to improve the work culture and employee experience.
In a recent communication to employees from Paul, he wrote, "This award, and the high-ranking position, is testament to the amazing culture you all help create and foster at Hancock Lumber. Every year we receive incredible feedback from the survey which-as a team-we review and work on together to continuously improve. Consistently improving our Trusted, Respected, Valued and Heard culture takes a lot of hard work on everyone's part and for that I am extremely grateful and immensely proud to call each of you a colleague."
Kevin Hancock also commented, "Being a Best Place to Work never gets easy and it never gets old! Great job to everyone in our company, thank you!" Team Hancock's culture makes the difference, and culture exists whether an organization is working on it or not. We choose to prioritize not only what we work on, but the way in which we work.
