10/04/2024 - Fall Arts Walk Weekend! Plus Fall Recreation Programs, Indigenous People's Day and more...

We Want You to Know...

  • Fall Arts Walk is THIS WEEKEND!Join us Friday, October 4, from 6-10 PM and Saturday, October 5, from 12-6 PM for a vibrant two-day celebration of community, culture, and the arts. Over 100 local businesses will host artists, makers, and performers, transforming downtown Olympia into a creative hub filled with exhibits, events, and interactive activities!
  • Join us for the 2024 Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Fountain during Arts Walk! Enjoy an Ask-an-Arborist booth, native plant giveaway, kids' activities, community resources, and the "Friends of Trees" award recognition. The City will also kick off the development of an Urban Forest Management Plan, with staff available to answer questions and gather input.
  • Join the Squaxin Island Tribe and City of Olympia for Indigenous Peoples' Day at Squaxin Park on Monday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy cultural performances, speakers, and food. Families are welcome. Parking is limited, so carpooling, biking, or using the free shuttle from the Olympia Farmer's Market District parking lot (every 30 minutes starting at 11 a.m.) is encouraged.   • Join us for one of our upcoming volunteer opportunities!
    • October 11 & 12 - 18th Ave Parcel
    • October 19 - Orca Recovery Day - Squaxin Park. During this restoration event, we will work together to restore forested habitats to their intended state by removing non-indigenous vegetation and planting Pacific Northwest trees and shrubs. The day will also include a guided shore walk, refreshments, and a chance to learn about other organizations helping to better our orcas!

  • Progress is continuing on the paving project at Yauger Park. Path paving will happen soon, depending on the weather. Both parking lots are currently open, with some closed parking spaces. Please be aware of no parking signs. Soon, the contractor will start on sidewalk repairs on Cooper Point Road. The skate park will remain open, but some entrances will be closed temporarily. Thanks for continuing to follow signs for closed areas to keep everyone safe!
