Learn how to stay secure during Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Since 2004 the U.S. president and Congress have declared October Cybersecurity Awareness Month, dedicated to educating people about the importance of staying secure in our increasingly digital world.

This month, let our tricks be your treat as we provide tips to help you stay proactive about digital privacy and security at Vanderbilt. Thanks for joining us for our upcoming series of activities, all culminating in our third annual Town Hall on Oct. 24.

Special Events:

E-Waste Disposal Day Collection: Oct. 14
In partnership with ER2, we invite all students, faculty and staff to participate in International E-Waste Day and drop off their used or old electronic devices and equipment for proper disposal.

Cybersecurity Town Hall: Oct. 24
Save the date! VUIT is hosting their annual virtual Town Hall onOct. 24. Chief Information Officer Shane Callahan, new Chief Information Security Officer, Gregg Kendrick and special guest Gen. Paul Nakasone, director of the Vanderbilt Institute of National Security, will speak.

Happening Throughout the Month

Phish or Treat Game

Throughout October, play Phish or Treat and testout of your spring Foundational Training requirement for cybersecurity. Participation information will be sent to all eligible participants from [email protected].

Microsoft Office File Protection

Learnhow to better protect your data starting on Oct. 9 when we begin rolling out the capability ofapplying data labeling to Microsoft documents. With the easy application of data sensitivity labels, you can protect your hard work from unwanted access and maintain the integrity and security of your data.
