Cobb County Submits Water Service Line Inventory

October 16, 2024 - The Cobb County Water System (CCWS) has complied with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations for all public water systems to inventory and submit water service line material data by October 16, 2024. The data is available at https://pws-ptd.120wateraudit.com/CobbCounty-GA. The vendor hosting the data reports is working to improve slow load times, due to the amount of data and volume of users.

No lead service lines have been identified in CCWS' service area, which includes most of unincorporated Cobb County and the cities of Acworth, Kennesaw, and Powder Springs. The inventory was developed using historical records, physical inspections, and statistical analyses. Per EPA's guidance, the water service line material for both the system-owned and customer-owned sides of the pipes are labeled in the inventory.

The system-owned service line is the pipe from the water main to the connection point at the water meter. The customer-owned service line is the pipe from the meter to the building or the meter to the irrigation system. CCWS is only responsible for maintaining the system-owned line. The property owner is responsible for maintaining the customer-owned line. Service line materials found in Cobb County vary depending on the age of the customer's plumbing.
