Mark Robinson Once Again is Only Member of Council of State to Miss Vote on Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief Efforts

New reporting found that once again, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson was the only member of North Carolina's Council of State to miss out on casting "a vote to concur with a Hurricane Helene-related request from Gov. Roy Cooper."

The request sent to the Council of State was for an executive order "to help meet North Carolina's response and recovery needs in supporting Helene relief efforts" among other solutions, yet "records show Robinson was again the only member of the Council of State who did not vote on concurring with the executive order" despite having 48 hours to do so.

The Council of State is made up of ten members, with six being Republicans and four being Democrats, including Gov. Roy Cooper.

Last week, Robinson missed a vote to approve an initial disaster declaration, receiving backlash from within his own party with former GOP Gov. Pat McCrory saying, "It's inexcusable in a time of crisis."

After reporting of Robinson missing the first vote, he lashed out and described his failure to cast his vote as "inconsequential."

"While both parties continue to come together and deliver on solutions to help North Carolinians recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Mark Robinson continues refusing to perform even the basic functions of his job," said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. "With each vote missed, Robinson is only proving to the people of North Carolina that he is entirely unfit to ever be governor."
