Rental Assistance - Eviction Prevention

The City of Hollywood's Rental Assistance - Eviction Prevention program, using State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds, offers help to renters who might be on the verge of homelessness due to not being able to afford their rent. The funds for the program are administered, by the City of Hollywood Community Development Division, as a grant and no repayment is required.

If an applicant qualifies for the SHIP program, funding can cover up to six months of past due unpaid rent, to prevent them from being evicted. Assistance may be provided within one year of income determination, pending funding availability. For households that are under 30% area median income (see chart below) and have one household member with special needs according to 420.0004 (13), rent equal to no more than twelve months' rent assistance is eligible. Applicant must be behind in rent by at least one month to qualify.
