Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Nashville Teen

The teen killed in Thursday's 8:20 p.m. single-vehicle crash on Smith Springs Road near Butler Road is identified as Jamon Hurt.

The preliminary investigation shows that Hurt, 16, was driving a 2008 Toyota Sequoia west on Smith Springs Road when the SUV ran off the roadway and overturned, ejecting him. Hurt was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

There was no evidence of impairment being a factor in the crash. The driver's side rear tire had the steel belt showing and was blown out. Further investigation will be needed to determine whether this was a contributing factor to the crash.

Hurt was not wearing a seatbelt.
