I'm pleased to report that TPTS is off to an excellent start. In May, TPTS announced the appointment of its inaugural Board of Directors - six pharmacy technician members recognized as leaders in the field. The board established a strong foundation by drafting the mission and vision, marking the start of a commitment to fostering impactful change. The organization is now working to establish the first TPTS strategic plan, a blueprint for achieving its vision.
As it grows, the TPTS Board of Directors seeks to encourage technician leaders across all practice settings to join us and make a meaningful impact on the profession. The board has open seats for next year. Please help to spread the word. Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 13, 2025.
Applications are also being accepted through Jan. 6, 2025, to serve on committees overseeing membership, education, career development, and advocacy. Serving on committees will allow technicians to share their expertise, expand their networks, and gain leadership experience - all while contributing to initiatives that are important to the profession.
All TPTS members have opportunities to get engaged and support others. Last month, TPTS launched a resume/CV review program, offering new or aspiring technicians personalized feedback from seasoned professionals.
TPTS also recognizes that personal stories can help illuminate the career paths of new and aspiring technicians. Members have been sharing compelling stories that show how they advanced into positions that make such a meaningful difference in the lives of their patients. We invite others to share their stories.
Empowering all pharmacy technicians across all practice settings is critically important to every member of the pharmacy workforce. Today's technicians are called on to run compounding services, screen patients, administer vaccines, and monitor 340B Drug Pricing Program compliance. However, health systems struggle to have enough qualified staff to take on these important roles.
That's why we are seeing strong interest in TPTS not only from individual technicians but also from organizations that are investing in their technician workforce by providing TPTS group memberships. Organizations that have chosen these group memberships support the professional development of their workforce by providing education and community. As these organizations know, elevating technicians is essential to providing valuable patient care services.
As we look to the future, ASHP and TPTS will continue to devote substantial attention to the significant workforce challenges faced by pharmacy technicians who want to advance in their careers and the organizations that need them to deliver optimal medication outcomes. TPTS is committed to serving all technicians because when these healthcare practitioners thrive, we all do.
Thank you for all you do for your patients and our profession.
Sincerely,
Paul
