Laurie Buckhout Praises Devastating Reproductive Rights Attacks, Claims States are “Handling It Well”

Laurie Buckhout sat down for a remarkably out-of-touch interview with Spectrum News, where she was forced to confront her repeated support for nationwide abortion restrictions. Here's one particularly telling moment:

Spectrum News: When we spoke during the primary, you said federal limits on abortion should be discussed.

So what specific federal abortion restrictions would you like to be discussed?

Laurie Buckhout: "You know, honestly, I don't think we're there yet. I think it's something that you can tee up as time goes by. But I think right now, the states are handling it well."

In at least 21 states across the nation, draconian abortion bans and other reproductive health care restrictions threatening women's livelihoods have taken effect since the fall of Roe. Just last month, two women in Georgia died after they couldn't access legal reproductive health care and a 10 year old survivor of rape in Ohio had to flee the state for health care.

Is this what Laurie Buckhout sees as "handling it well?"
