Hunt Program Youth Deer Hunting Application- Closed

Youth Firearms Hunt- The application window for this event is now closed.

Authorized Hunters

Authorized youth hunters, per the Indiana regulations, are youth 17 years of age or younger. All youth hunters participating in the Youth Firearms Deer Hunt must be accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times. No guests are authorized.

Application Process for Youth Hunters

Please, understand the following guidelines when submitting a request:

  • Each youth hunter must have a separate application.
  • The Sponsor for a youth hunter must be an authorized hunter.
  • Include the name of the youth hunter and the day(s) requesting to hunt.
  • Include the name and phone number of the youth hunter's parent or guardian.
  • Military members will submit their military address. If you are retired and submitting with a non-military address, you must provide proof of affiliation.
  • You will be notified by email of your selection to hunt by 16 September 2024.

License Requirements

All youth hunters must have a valid hunting license/permit in accordance with Indiana state law. The license/permit type will be dependent on the date of the hunt. Military Refuge licenses are authorized on Camp Atterbury during any firearms hunt. Hunters should reference the Indiana Hunting and Trapping Guide for specific licensing requirements. License is the responsibility of the Sponsor and hunter and confirmation of possession of a valid license will be conducted the morning of the hunt prior to release to a hunt area.

  • Apprentice License
  • Youth License
  • Deer License Bundle
  • Bonus Antlerless License
  • Military/Refuge

Sponsor Responsibilities

  • Hunters may not sponsor more than two (2) youth hunters.
  • The youth's sponsoring hunter must have an iSportsman account and completed all required iSportsman validations (Hunter's education, safety brief, and ID validation).
    • The youth hunter does not need an iSportsman account.
  • Sponsoring hunters must accompany the youth during the hunt.
  • Sponsoring hunters will hold the iSportsman permit, check-in to the system, checkout, and record the harvest for the youth hunter.
  • Selected youth hunt teams must identify any changes to the youth's application, specifically the identified sponsoring hunter, via email to [email protected]no later than 1400 hours on 26 September 2024. Failure to follow this instruction will prevent the youth from participating.
