McCaul Votes for Enhanced Presidential Security Act of 2024 in Wake of Second Assassination Attempt on Former President Trump

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) voted for the Enhanced Presidential Security Act of 2024, legislation that directs the U.S. Secret Service to apply the same standards when determining the number of agents in a protection detail for presidents, vice presidents, and major presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"Even in the face of enduring attacks, President Trump has remained resilient and firm in his fight for our great nation. But no presidential candidate should have to face political violence - especially something as vile as attempted murder - in the United States of America," said Rep. McCaul. "Today I proudly voted to provide President Trump and future presidential candidates the same level of protection as sitting presidents and vice presidents. As we continue working to get to the bottom of the security failures that allowed two would-be assassins to get harrowingly close to the former president, this crucial bill will help protect him from future threats and preserve our democratic process."
