Lee County sand cleanup operations for Fort Myers Beach to pause temporarily to focus on debris cleanup.
Residents who live along Estero Boulevard are asked to stop placing sand in the right of way as of today while Lee County's debris removal contractor shifts focus to residential debris cleanup on Friday, Nov. 1.
The county plans to return to make a final pass for sand placed in the right of way once residential debris is removed from the two main county roads - Estero Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach. The county will announce a date for a final pass for sand collection in November.
Residents of Fort Myers Beach who do not live along Estero Boulevard, are advised to reach out to their local city hall for any debris collection questions. For the Town of Fort Myers Beach, visit www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov.
Residents with questions can call Lee County Solid Waste customer service at 239-533-8000. Additional information is available at www.leegov.com/storm.
Commercial property owners of sites such as industrial parks, golf courses, cemeteries, apartments, condominiums and trailer parks are reminded that Lee County is not responsible for collecting their storm debris. Per FEMA, those property owners are expected to work with their insurance providers to cover the cost of debris removal.
