The Recorder Honors Dechert for Innovation in Diversity in its California Legal Awards

Global law firm Dechert LLP was recognized for its "Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion" at The Recorder's California Legal Awards 2024. The awards celebrate the achievements of the law firms and legal departments driving California's dynamic legal landscape.

Dechert was named winner for developing a best-in-class program of DEI initiatives overseen by Satra Sampson-Arokium, the firm's Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer. Notable programs and initiatives include the firm's Diverse Partners Business Development Network, which aims to increase connection and knowledge-sharing among the firm's diverse partners and provide intentional opportunities for business development.

The publication also noted Dechert's innovative Partner Diversity Information Card dashboard, which is designed to oversee the staffing and utilization processes for all associates and counsel in the U.S. and UK. The tool offers partners real-time data on staffing to highlight the importance of intentional and equitable team selection.

Dechert's approach to diversity and inclusion has attracted a number of honors in recent months. The firm was recognized as "Inclusion Innovator of the Year" in the Legal Benchmarking Group's Social Impact Awards EMEA 2024 in September, and was also named a "Diversity Initiative" finalist by the New York Law Journal in its New York Legal Awards 2024.

Dechert's ESG efforts in California were also recognized by The Recorder, which named the firm a finalist in the "Environmental, Social, and Governance Initiative" category and outlined the work of Dechert's Sustainability team in providing advice and thought leadership to clients on cutting-edge ESG matters.
