Cape May County Commissioners Holds Veterans Day Ceremony
CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ - The Cape May County Board of County Commissioners held their annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the newly updated Veterans Cemetery on November 11 at 1 p.m. Commissioners in attendance included Director Leonard C. Desiderio, Vice-Director Andrew Bulakowski, Commissioner Bobby Barr, and Commissioner Melanie Collette. This event is organized each year to honor and celebrate the veterans who have served our country to protect our freedom.
Cape May County Commissioner Director Leonard C. Desiderio served as the Master of Ceremonies, with Commissioner Bobby Barr, liaison to the Division of Veterans Services, addressing the attendees. Veteran speakers included William Fitzgerald, a WWII US Army Veteran, Petty Officer Jack Hagan, a US Navy Veteran, and Master Sergeant Christopher W. Donohue, Chief of Training 227 Air Support Operations Squadron, and an NJ Air National Guard Veteran. The speakers' service spans from World War II, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Director Desiderio invited all veterans in attendance to come forward for recognition and a group photo. More than 50 veterans gathered for the photo. The John Walters Band provided music, featuring the National Anthem, patriotic songs, and concluded the ceremony with a sing-along of "God Bless America," joined by those in attendance.
