The presentation of the robes for the Infant Jesus to the Church of Our Lady Victorious in Prague

On October 30, 2024, Mr. Suwat Kaewsuk, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Czech republic, witnessed in the ceremony on the occasion the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) presented the robes specially designed for the Infant Jesus together with six sets of gown for priests to the Church of Our Lady Victorious in Prague. The robes and the priest gowns were presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anin Meemont, Assistant to the Rector of RMUTT and his team, and were received by Father Pavel Pola, the rector of the church. The ceremony was also witnessed by Mr. Miroslav Brzezina, Rector of the Technical University of Liberec (TUL), Mr. Vladimír Bajzík, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Engineering of TUL, as well as officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy.

In this regard, the Church helped arranged for the presented robes to try on the replica of the Infant Jesus as well.

The robes and the priest gowns were co-designed by both Faculties of Textile Engineering of RMUTT and TUL. The main theme tone of the robes was in green colour as specified in the Church's dress code for the ceremonies according to the Church's calendar.

The robes consist of three main parts : an under-gown made from white linen, the dress and the cloak with the green Linden leaves and the Golden Shower flowers pattern. Green Linden leaves or "Lipa", the national tree of the Czech Republic, represents peace, love, harmony and longevity. Golden Shower flower, the national flower of the Kingdom of Thailand, represents prosperity, happiness and stability. Therefore, the pattern of the robes with the combination of the green Linden leaves and the Golden Shower flowers conveys not only the harmony through long ties of friendship between Thailand and the Czech Republic, but also represents the mutual respect in culture between Thailand and the Czech Republic which have been cultivated throughout 50 years of friendship between the two nations.

The tailor-made robes were made by the PASAYA Company, one of Thailand's leading manufacturer in bedding products and home textile industry and an expertise in textile art with its digital Jacquard weaving loom. The under-gown sets were made by the Gemma Knit Company, a renowned Thai manufacturer in lace and sportswear industry.

A total of 4 sets of robes were prepared to give to the following agencies : The Church of Our Lady Victorious, Faculties of Textile Engineering of RMUTT and TUL, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok. Another 2 sets of robes were kept at the PASAYA Company.
