San Francisco US 101 Connector to Close Entire Weekend from Northbound US 101 to the Central Freeway for Emergency Barrier Repairs

SAN FRANCISCO -Caltrans is scheduling a full weekend closure of the Central freeway connector ramp from northbound US-101 to northbound US-101 Central Freeway beginning Friday, October 4, 10:00 pm until Monday, October 7, at 5:00 AM. The full weekend closure will allow crews to make emergency repairs to the freeway barrier rails. All lanes of the connector ramp will be closed while the work is in progress. The emergency repairs are necessary to replace damaged concrete barrier and tubular railing on connectors due to vehicle collisions over the years. The repairs will include removing and rebuilding sections of the barrier structures. During the closure, motorists may experience significant traffic delays. Motorist should use an alternate route, listed below.

These repairs are the first of a series of repairs requiring lane closures on the Central freeway. Caltrans will keep the public apprised of all future scheduled closures. Weekend Closure Details:

1. The northbound US-101 connector ramp will close to all traffic Friday October 4, 10:00 PM thru Monday October 7, 5:00 AM.
2. Motorists will not have access to the northbound US-101 connector.
3. US-101 connector will re-open at 5 AM, Monday October 7.
4. Detour at 7^th St. offramp.
5. Motorists may experience significant traffic delays.

Detour:

Motorists traveling northbound US-101 from San Jose:

1. Take eastbound I-80 to 7^th St. offramp.
2. Turn left of 7^th St. and travel under the freeway.
3. Turn left on 7^th St. onramp.

Traffic Impact:

1. 101 North
   1. Detoured to 7^th St. offramp.
   2. Heavy traffic on detour route.
   3. Anticipate delays.
2. I-80 Eastbound
   1. Route unaffected
   2. On detour route
   3. Heavy traffic up till 7^th St. offramp
   4. Anticipate delays.
3. I-80 Westbound
   1. Route unaffected
   2. On detour route
   3. Heavy traffic at 101 N connector.
   4. Anticipate delays.

When possible, please use public transit where your MUNI, BART, CalTrain, and AC Transit systems offer reliable and comfortable alternatives to driving.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable messages and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. During the closures, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be at the sites.
