Pinellas Update #1: County monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, Commission to meet

Latest Storm/Incident Developments

  • Pinellas County is monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, which is forecast to become a tropical storm Tuesday and a hurricane by Wednesday.
  • It is too early to determine the exact impacts for Pinellas County; however, impacts could start as soon as late Wednesday due to the large size of the storm.
  • Coastal storm surge flooding is likely for much of the west coast of Florida starting as soon as late Wednesday.

County Actions

  • An emergency public meeting of the Board of County Commissioners to consider a declaration of a State of Local Emergency for Tropical Cyclone Nine will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Palm Room at 333 Chestnut Street, Clearwater.
  • County work crews are re-checking known flooding hot spots to clear storm drains.
