City making final push for Milton debris pickups

Published on November 15, 2024

NORTH PORT, FL - The City of North Port is urging residents to place all Hurricane Milton yard waste curbside by Monday, Nov. 18.

The Department of Public Works has made tremendous progress picking up storm debris and yard waste from Hurricane Milton throughout the majority of the city. Our crews have collected more than 46,000 cubic yards of yard waste and 285 tons of construction and demolition (C&D) debris so far. You can see where they've been working on our online collection map, available at NorthPortFL.gov.

"If you have debris from Hurricane Milton that needs to be collected, please take some time to properly place your debris curbside this weekend. Our team will be out looking for remaining debris piles in the next few days as they make plans for their final push to help North Port get cleaned up," said Public Works Director Chuck Speake. "If your debris in not out by Nov. 18, there is a chance it will not be collected within this pass."

HOAs and debris pickup

The City is working with homeowners associations and private communities to gain the necessary access to private roads to complete storm debris pickups. Residents in these communities should continue to place their Hurricane Milton yard waste and debris curbside, but it may take a little longer, especially if your community has not yet completed its right-of-entry form.

HOA, POA and CDD representatives can contact the Department of Public Works at 941-240-8050 for questions or assistance.
