Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital Earns Prestigious 'A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

McMINNVILLE, Tenn., (Nov. 21, 2024) - Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnvillehas earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing patient safety. The top grade highlights the hospital's commitment to creating a safe, reliable environment for every patient.

Leapfrog assigns grades of "A," "B," "C," "D," or "F" to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 safety performance metrics, including the prevention of accidents, errors, infections, and other preventable incidents.

In addition to the Leapfrog recognition, Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital recently received a CMS 5-Star Rating and the Tennessee Hospital Association's inaugural Zero Harm Award, recognizing its commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.

The hospital continues to expand its capabilities and services to meet the growing needs of McMinnville and Warren County. Notable investments include:

  • State-of-the-art Tablo Dialysis units, enabling advanced dialysis care locally, allowing patients to receive treatment close to home without extensive travel.
  • $15.2 million in facility expansions, supported by a $7.6 million state grant matched by Ascension Saint Thomas. These funds will expand the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, adding thirteen beds.
  • A $138,000 donation from the Ascension Saint Thomas Foundation for enhanced cardiac imaging capabilities.

These advancements underscore the hospital's mission to provide high-quality healthcare while addressing the community's evolving needs.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade program is a peer-reviewed, transparent initiative that evaluates hospitals based on safety performance, preventable medical errors, infections, and patient injuries.
