Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom Highlights Final Day of Election Ballot Counting

November 19, 2024 (Anchorage, AK) - November 20th marks 15 days since Election Day, and the final tabulation of results will occur tomorrow at 5 p.m. This critical step in Alaska's election process ensures that every vote cast by eligible Alaska voters is counted with care and accuracy.

"Alaska's election process is unique because of our expansive geography, our various methods of voting, and our commitment to ensuring every voter's voice is heard," said Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom. "From urban centers to the most remote villages, we take the time required to receive, process, and count ballots securely and transparently."

Alaska law mandates a 15-day period after Election Day to ensure that all absentee, early, and questioned ballots are included in the final count. This process guarantees that every eligible vote - whether cast within the state, out of state, or overseas - is accurately counted.

The Division of Elections has worked diligently to uphold the integrity of the process, and Alaskans can be confident the results reflect the people's will.

Ranked-choice tabulation for the required races will take place at 5 p.m. tomorrow, and the unofficial results of Alaska's 2024 General Election will be available shortly after. Results are always unofficial until final certification. The target date for final certification is Nov. 30.

The Lieutenant Governor thanks Alaskans for their patience and participation in the democratic process.
