Symposium 2024 In the Books

December 14, 2024

Education Symposium 2024 brought hundreds of educators, business leaders and policymakers together last week to tackle the topic of innovation in education and workforce development.

More than 450 attendees and presenters gathered Friday, Dec. 13 at Maine's largest annual education event, presented by Educate Maine. This year's theme was "Innovation," featuring presentations on skills training, teacher workforce development, and amplifying student voices. Among the highlights were a presentation on Maine's burgeoning "space sector," a higher-ed panel of college presidents, and a special presentation on public pre-K (largely considered a successful state innovation preparing Maine students for success).

Jason Judd, PhD., executive director of Educate Maine, welcomed the crowd by announcing that the state has reached a milestone in its goal of 60 percent of adults with a degree or credential of value by 2025.

"Thanks to your tremendous support, we have reached 55.1 percent," he said. "We are so close to meeting that statewide goal and we hope you will help us by supporting legislation, promising practices and programs that increase educational attainment for Maine people."
