Update: Person of Interest Sought in June Fatal Shooting at 9111 Lakes at 610 Drive

October 14, 2024- Houston police released photos of a person of interest identified and sought in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male and the wounding of a man at 9111 Lakes at 610 Drive about 8:40 p.m. on June 16.

The individual, Ricardo Alejandro Hernandez, 20, is wanted for questioning and is not charged at this time. Two photos of Hernandez are attached to this news release.

The deceased victim is identified as Quinton Higgins, 13. The other victim, 18, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was treated at an area hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Camacho and C. Davidson reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and were flagged down by a man with a gunshot wound to his hand. The male informed officers that his brother had also been shot. Officers were directed to the east side of the apartment complex, where they located the other male, later identified as Higgins, in the parking lot. Paramedics were called and pronounced him deceased at the scene.

It is believed Higgins and his brother had arranged a meeting with unknown suspects, who arrived in an older silver sedan. One or more suspects fired shots and fled the scene in the vehicle. The suspects were described only as being in their mid 20s.

Further investigation identified Ricardo Hernandez as a person of interest who might have information to provide to detectives.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hernandez or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
